Price bands enable different selling prices to be available for the same menu items on the same menus. Utilising price bands saves the need to create multiple copies of the same menu when publishing.
There are 4 stages for setting up and using price bands:
- Creating Price Bands
- Adding Price Bands to Units and Menu Groups
- Adding Price Bands to Menu Items
- Adding Price Bands to Menus
- Publishing Price Bands
Creating Price Bands
To create price bands, go to the menu on the left side > Settings cog > Customisation > Price Bands:
Next, click ‘Add New Price Band’ in the top left corner.
Managing Price Bands
Enter the required details. The price band name should be unique and easy to understand when adding to the recipes. Save the price band in the top left corner:
Create as many price bands as required by the business. Please note, where the X is grey, the price band is in use and assigned to at least one unit or menu in the publish screen and so, it cannot be deleted. Where the X is red, this price band is not assigned and can be deleted if needed:
Adding Price Bands to Units and Menu Groups
Price bands can be added as the default band for a Unit or Menu Group. To do this, go to the menu on the left> Settings cog > Units:
Select the correct Unit or Menu group:
In the Details page, select the price band that should be applied to all menu item selling prices for this Unit or Menu Groups outputs and save the changes:
Adding Price Bands to Menu Items
Different selling prices per Price Band can be added to a Menu Item from the Menu Item screen. These sell prices will be shown by default for this menu item under the Analysis tab when it is added to a Menu.
To edit the Menu Item price bands, go to Menu Items > Click on the Menu Item > Edit > Retail.
Untick ‘Use RSP’ and enter the relevant prices against the bands and save:
The price bands for this menu item will now be populated for all Menus this Menu Item is added to.
These sell prices can be overridden on the Menus themselves if required.
Adding Price Bands to Menus
To add price bands to menus, click on the Menu option in the bar on the left:
Select the menu that requires the price bands:
Click Edit Menu > Edit Menu Analysis:
All created price bands will be visible against the menu. The RSP will be the default price visible in the field until it’s updated. Make the required changes:
Pro Tip: We advise saving after every 20 changes or so rather than waiting until the end.
All price bands do not need to be updated, only those required for that menu. There is a link at the top right called ‘Clear all Menu Sell Price Overrides’ and selecting it will revert all overrides to initial sell prices per price band. Also, if you hover over the cell with the sell price override highlighted in green, you will see a recommended sell price for this price band shown as a tooltip.
Publishing Price Bands
Once price bands are set up and have been added to the menus, they can be published to the relevant Units and or Menu Groups. To publish go to the ‘Publish’ option on the bar on the left side:
Select the Unit or Menu Group:
The price band allocated to the Unit will be the default price band that is used for any menus published to that Unit. In the below example, that is the North price band:
However, it is possible to select per menu which price band should be used for the Unit for the output. To do this, click on the price band and select the relevant price band:
Please Note: Depending on the organisation, the number of price bands and the frequency at which they change will determine how complex managing price bands will be. If a price band is used once a year at one or two sites, then we recommend creating a new output against an existing unit with the standard price band and publishing menus to the new output using the price band selector when publishing. However, if it’s common to have many price bands and/or price bands that change frequently in the organisation, then having specific units to manage this is advised.
