Nutritics are honoured to be the first software system worldwide to be certified to Gold Standard for Recipe Calculation Methods, in an independent evaluation process.
The certification has been awarded by the European Food Information Resource AISBL (EuroFIR), following the H2020 funded project NASCENT, Nutritional labelling software and claims: Service, training and innovation offering to SMEs and industry [NASCENT] [Grant Agreement No. 739622].
EuroFIR is an international member-based, non-profit association, set up in 2009 to ensure sustained advocacy for food information in Europe and beyond. Their mission is to be the best and only independent broker of validated food composition data. Introduction of the recipe calculation software certification scheme aims to progress this mission and help ensure that software providers utilising food composition data meet the same high standards, ultimately giving peace of mind to end users including consumers.
Software is evaluated in a rigorous 86 point process across seven categories:
- Accessibility
- Security, support and updates
- Licence and data management
- Recipe analysis and reporting
- Food labelling and food databases
- Export and sharing options
- Internationalisation
Paul Finglas, President of EuroFIR, commented, “EuroFIR is proud to have launched this new initiative extending our standards for recipe calculation to software providers and delighted to have awarded Nutritics with gold certification, after a very rigorous review.”
CEO of Nutritics Damian O’Kelly said, “Attaining this certification is a testament to the hard work and rigorous standards that Nutritics operate to. We encourage all nutrition software providers to strive to meet this same EuroFIR standard. This will drive the industry forward and create a consistency in using databases and technology for nutrient analyses.”
