Food and Recipe Claims

Last updated: 30th April 2024

Nutritics will automatically display all applicable nutrition claims that can be made for your recipe under Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006 simply click ‘Add Claims’ to see these. Choose the ‘Nutrition and Health‘ category.

After a nutrition claim has been elected for use, the associated Health Claims for that nutrient are displayed, which can also be applied.

Claims cannot be applied to recipes that are high in saturated fat, trans-fat, total sugars or salt. Claims such as ‘Reduced energy’, ‘Reduced Fat’ that require comparison across products are not available and should be consulted separately.

Nutrition & Health Claims are available on our premium and corporate packages only, or added from Menu > Add Features. Check our blog on nutrition claims for more background information, or refer to Regulation EC1924/2006

Additional Claims

Nutritics also suggests a range of claims based on sustainability. These are automatically calculated based on the food information such as carbon and water usage, country of origin, food category etc. These claims are separated out into the following categories:

  • Farm & Processing
  • Biodiversity
  • Socio-Economic
  • Animal Welfare
  • Aquaculture
  • Cool Food Pledge (recipes only)

The claims are specific to the food and will need to be manually selected. For example, Nutritics may suggest an ‘Organic’ tag under the Biodiversity category, but you must verify it’s validity using a specification sheet from the manufacturer/supplier.

Click ‘Add Claims’ and open a category to attach your desired claim to the food. Depending on the claim used, Nutritics may show a warning message ‘Please ensure you have permission to use and display branch accreditation logos’ to remind you to verify the claim’s validity with the manufacturer/supplier.

On recipes, the claims’ appropriateness will be reevaluated. Nutritics will then automatically show the relevant claims for the recipe based on the recipe ingredients.
