Deleting Menus And Menu Items

Last updated: 19th July 2024

The process explained below shows how to delete menu items but the same process and fields apply when deleting menus, go to the ‘Menu’ tab in the navigation bar.

  1. From the home page navigation bar on the left side of your screen, select the Menu Item tab

  1. You can choose to filter your list of menu items and show only those published or unpublished, those imported (grey banner) or created within the Ten Kites org (blue banner) or menu items that are/are not added to a menu

  1. Then go to the ‘Choose View’ drop down arrow and select ‘Manage View’

  1. From this screen you can choose to select items for deletion individually or clicking on the box highlighted below in purple will select all menu items on the screen

  1. Once one or more items are selected, the ‘Delete selected’ button will become available for you to delete the menu items no longer required in Ten Kites.

If the menu item(s) still exist in your source recipe system and are edited, therefore amending the last modified date, the item will be re-imported into Ten Kites on the next API import.

  1. A progress bar will depict how many items are being deleted. If the action is cancelled, the remaining menu items originally selected will not be deleted.

Deleting Menus

From the Menu home page, you can also delete a manually created menu. Note: you can only delete a menu that is not published to any output (live or staging).

  1. From the home page navigation bar on the left side of your screen, select the Menus tab.

  1. Select the ‘Actions’ dropdown menu on the menu that you would like to delete and select ‘Delete Menu’

  1. Ten Kites will notify you of any menus that are not receiving updates from the source system with a ‘broken link’ icon. These menus might have been archived in the source system and are no longer required to be live but Ten Kites won’t just remove a menu from an output without intervention

By selecting ‘Manage Unlinked Menus’ from the top navigation bar of the menu home page, you can view any unlinked menus and take action to unpublish these before delete them. You cannot delete any unlinked menus if they are published to any outputs for staging or live
